He’ll be playing to 80,000.
Last year Zayn Malik was due to play the famous gig, annually hosted at Wembley Stadium, but pulled out last minute after suffering crippling anxiety over the performance.
Zayn decided for his own health he should give the gig a miss, and wrote to his fans: ‘Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me’.
Niall is now hoping to pick up where Zayn left off, which is a pretty huge deal given the stadium has a capacity for a total of 80,000 people.
He’s just released his new single Slow Hands, so he and his hands will be doing their thing on June 10.
Olly Murs, Anne-Marie, James Arthur, Shawn Mendes, Zara Larson, Little Mix and Rag N Bone Man are some of the other performers taking to the enormous stage.
And there’s still one more announcement to come.
Niall told Capital’s Roman Kemp: ‘You’re stepping out in front of 80,000 people, it’s going to be scary! But you have to relish it at the same time, you know they’re your songs, people know them that are coming to watch because they listen to the station, they’re going to have a good day and you’re amongst a great line-up.’
X Factor’s 5 After Midnight will also be giving the gig a crack, as will singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, who will be cranking out the hits Be The One and Hotter Than Hell.
Capital presenter Roman will announce the final name tomorrow at 8am on Capital Breakfast.
